What happens if you don’t pay on one of those payday loans?
Question by Jeremy b: What happens if you don’t pay on one of those payday loans?
My mom got 3 payday loans to pay for car repairs now she pays 1000 a month just to those 3 and cannot afford any of her other bills. She is on somewhat of a fixed income and I need to help her to stop her from working to death. I have told her just to stop paying them and let them take you to court? Is this good advice?

Maybe call the cops and hunt you down or sumething. But explain to them why.

They will file a lawsuit against your mother to sue her for the amount due along with interest and all court costs. She signed a contract when she got the loans and the contracts are legal binding.
Since you are concerned with your mom working so much, maybe you can kick in some financial help in this matter?

Those companies have the right to charge over 100 percent in interest and will definatly report to credit agencies. Maybe your mom can borrow from a family member? My advice is if at all possible , pay those payday loan people off as soon as she can.
Those loans are so bad for the economy! They shouldn’t be in place!
What she should do is contact a debt consolidator. They will help her set up a payment plan for all of those loans and any of her other debt. Another option is to file for bankruptcy.
She shouldn’t just stop paying them, they will hound her with phone calls, and I mean hound. They aren’t under the same laws as banks, so they can be as RUDE as they want. They will threaten and belittle. Eventually they will take you to court.
So it would probably be in her best interest to contact a bankruptcy lawyer(consult is usually free) or one of those bill consolidators.
